AGENZIA NAZIONALE PER LE NUOVE TECNOLOGIE, L’ENERGIA E LO SVILUPPO ECONOMICO SOSTENIBILE

Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy, and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) is a public body dedicated to research, innovation, and advanced services in energy, the environment, and sustainable development. Established in the 1960s, ENEA specializes in applied research, technology transfer, and scientific support for businesses, public administrations, and local communities. The agency plays a key role in sectors like renewable energy, nuclear safety, energy efficiency, and circular economy initiatives. ENEA collaborates with top national and international research institutions and supports Italy’s transition toward sustainable economic growth.
ENEA coordinates WP2 in the IMPROVE project. In WP2, ENEA will focus on rearing insects (TM and LMW) and up-cycling fish and aquaculture (F&A) by-products. They extract oil-enriched fractions and work with CNR on protein extraction, optimizing production to improve the palatability of alternative proteins. Additionally, ENEA contributes technical data to support WP4 in developing the Digital Twin Technology.
